We ask that you not use last name in your Username (even if it differs from your Sailor's) and not post photos with names visible on uniforms.  Please go to “Settings” on the main page, where you can add a profile image and complete your Profile.  Then please read our Community Guidelines and this Operations Security checklist.

Jump right in!  Browse around the site and check out the groups and their Discussion Forums.  Search for groups for Boot Camp Moms, your PIR date, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" school, duty station or homeport and ship, and also your own state, region or home town, and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas.  

Be sure to introduce yourself when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - we were all new to this once, too  :)  We look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor, and welcome to the NAVY family!

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.

What is your recruit’s Navy Occupational Specialty (NOS) or field going to be? There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link).

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your recruit.

Since your recruit will be in the Nuclear Field, you will want to join NUKE moms and you may also want to check out Nuke School Charleston and Nuke A School FAQ.

Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Your Sailor may have Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY; if so, join Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY at that time. Some stay in Charleston.
