Head to “Settings” on the main page right away to add a profile image (no last names visible, please) and complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.
Then jump right in! Browse around the site and check out the groups and the information in their Discussion Forums.
Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!
Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.
This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.
Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
Welcome to N4M site. B'sNukeMom shared the link below for the BC Moms group. We are glad you are here Kim and that your husband Troy is helping you out as well. I agree the Navy Dad site doesn't have as much activity there but we will help you as best as we can. - My sailor has been in for 3 years now and is out in the fleet as a Nuke.
Welcome to BC Mom's Group - Glad you joined. We have a lot of information on that page and more of the new members post in the comment section there than follow in the main chat area. Be sure to scroll down most of the page to see the comment box.
Glad you are enjoying being a part of the group and hopefully gleaning information to help you along this new journey. It is hard to let our kids go and this is an even harder time with the extra silence at BC. I did not know anything about this site nor am I on FB so I did BC alone and with the RTC website. Once I found this site, I started doing a lot more comparing of what I should expect and that didn't always work out - especially our PIR weekend. So, I do what I can to help others see you can get through this even with the ups and downs. Learning to be flexible has been a big change for me and my "planning" personality. You learn to embrace the times together, the phone calls, the letters, the emails - whatever it is because silence is part of the Navy life and staying positive in the middle of the adjustments as well as prayer is what gets me though.
