A little about me:
Here because my son is joining the navy. It would be great to "talk" to others who are going through same.
I own my own small home business selling sustainable eco friendly home products in effort to save the planet and honestly I'm a dog owner without a dog. My last dog, was everything to me and it stinks being in that in between stage of ready/not ready.
I support my sons choice 100% but it's still hard on me. I am not sure why. I totally believe I would have been totally fine if he just moved out on his own, however this navy thing just happened so fast and I have a lot of feelings about a lot of different things that I am not sure I am even allowed to talk about here.
Bottom line is, my son has chosen to serve, and if he makes it, he wants to make a career of the navy, so I figgered I had better inform myself as to what I'll be up against, what to expect, etc. My son is a *%@$#!! and getting information from him is like pulling teeth without novocaine. I hope to find all the answers and support here that I am looking for. Thank you everyone for having this space.

Hi Clrditto1 - I saw your note in the Main Room chat.  Not very many people use the chat room, it just depends. I highly recommend that you join the BC Moms Group that B'sNuke Mom mentioned below. Here is the link again - https://navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms

Be sure to scroll most of the way down the page on the BC Mom group, past the discussions and look for the Comment wall. That is the area where we do a lot of our chatter. Today we had several post that they had received their sailor call.

Be sure to have your son call you when he gets to the airport in GL before boarding the bus. And keep your phone nearby and on loud. You should receive a scripted "I'm Here" call that may come very late in the night. I thought it was a recording when my son called and I just kept saying I love you over and over to him.

I just realized that B'sNuke mom had welcomed you on the 4th of OCT. so you have already been through all the other info I just posted and are in the final stretches of the ROM (restriction of movement) quarantine time. I would still highly recommend that you join the BC Mom group. That is where you are going to make the most connections with other members who have loved ones at BC currently.
