Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!
Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question. This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor. Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!

Awesomeakmom - Welcome to the BC Mom group. I just posted a message in our comment wall area (scroll down most of that group page to see it) welcoming our newest members. More of our members will see your posts there than they do in the discussion area above that.
Be sure to go there and post a hello. I use my computer for all of my N4M stuff, it is just easier to type and navigate on. If you are using a mobile device, we generally recommend that you put it in desktop mode.
My son has been in 4+ years and is out in the fleet now.
Awesomeakmom - My apologies for not replying sooner. I have been dealing with a lot of family things the last few days. Be sure to go to the main BC mom group page and comment over there if you haven't yet. That is how we get to know the new members. If our kids are in any kind of leadership role during BC, it can be draining on them as they don't always get some of the other "breaks" that the rest of the division does. Sounds like you are doing a great job, helping to him his morale boosted.
So the vaccine cards were a super easy process. We went to the Welcome Center off base and we were directed to the sailors down at the end of the hall (the rest of the building was a typical NEX store) and as we passed those sailors pointed to us to go around the corner for tickets. We did show our license and card at the door and then again to the guy with the clipboard and he will find your name on the list once you show him your cards and he will mark it received and give you a ticket with YOUR name on it. You get to keep your ticket after you show it at the proper gate getting on to base. I don't remember anyone scanning. Mostly they look at it along with your photo id or proper ID to make sure it is yours. Everyone was super nice and it was an easy process. Just have your card and your DL and you will be good to go! Have fun!
