Head to “Settings” on the main page right away to add a profile image (no last names visible, please) and complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.
Then jump right in! Browse around the site and check out the groups and the information in their Discussion Forums.
Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!
Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question. This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor. Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!

Rolo's Mom - Welcome to the N4M site. I did not see your message in the Main Room chat until this morning. Not many members see those messages for some reason or other, so I encourage you to join the Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) - Navy For Moms (ning.com) group. (click on the blue letters, in my message and B'sNukeMoms's, it will take you to other information pages.
This site can be difficult to navigate on a mobile device. It is old school set up by the Navy and easier to view in my opinion on a larger computer screen. If you use a mobile device, try putting it into desktop mode. Once you join the BC Mom group then you will be able to post questions and comments over there. More of our members will see it there and be able to reply. I am going to post your question over there in our comment wall and see if anyone that has a more recent SR (seaman recruit) can answer you question about the QR code.

Rolo’s Mom
Hello! What’s the purpose of the QR code that a recruit takes a picture of and sends to a parent when they get to the airport (the “I’m here, gotta go” message)? -- Yesterday
Me
Rolo's Mom - I have no idea. I am assuming there is something that will show up if you image on the QR code. This is all new stuff from when my son went to BC. He just called me on his cell phone.
