I'm a 71 year Grandma, whose Grandson is joining the Navy. His Mom gave me this.
Past my prime, but I'm a hands on Grandma and have 8 Grandchildren. They are the light of my life.
Have been Widowed for over 2 years.

My Uncle was a Navy Man, served in the Phillipines and got a purple star. I have always been supportive of all branches of Service. My husband was in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a VFW member for over 50 yrs. I send money to the Disabled Vets about three times a year.

    Welcome along grandma! I am a 53 year old mom of a new recruit sent on June 7. A very mixed emotional day for me. really miss not talking with him. got to see a you tube video of him that made me cry allover again. Hope you can find your grandson on a video too. it was at a whiten sox game. Still waiting for my kid in a box!

    I have yet to get any kinda note. Consider yourself lucky! I got my kid in a box today and you would be proud of me--I didn't even cry. Did search all the pockets looking for a glimpse of him and found 15 cents, an empty M&M wrapper and his ticket to the sox game. One weird thing too--his jean legs were both rolled up to his knees. Not sure what that was all about. Did you see the you tube video of the sox game swearing in?
    Looking forward to seeing him at graduation. Its nice to know that date now. Are you able to go to that?
