A little about me:
I have 4 kids - 3 girls and a son. Two of which are my step daughters...my son is the youngest, he is 19. He signs up for the Navy Thursday, Sept. 1st. And I am just sick over it. I am happy that he is doing something he really wants to do, but the thought of my "baby" leaving, makes me sick to my stomach. I know other parents go thru this, I just don't know how. I have been struggling with the "empty nest" thing for the last 5 months. But this is horrible. I have been encouraging him since he first told me, but I am also so sad.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it

Trish....it does get a bit easier...i've gotten 2 letters now from my son and he is doing well, he is actually the petty officer in his division for mail delivery! What a cool job he chose. He said bc would be a breeze if it wasn't for some of the idiots in his division!

Good Luck Trish! If you are like me you will cry when your son leaves, I tried not to cry to much in front of him, but bawled like a baby when he didn't see me!  My son is in day 28 of boot camp.  He graduates on 10/14.  It has gotten easier, but I still cry everyday to some extent.  Let me know how you are doing!!

Trish I am so happy to hear you have more time with your son. Cherish every minute you can, my son spent the last 30 days he had with his friends and that was hard for me, but I talked to him everyday.  Like you we talk to our sons everyday and for me, yes that is the hardest part of him being gone! 30 more days until my son graduates, I can hardly wait to see him.  I write him everyday! Hang in there Trish, we are here for each other!
