A little about me:
I am the parent of a sailor and a very private person, so I will leave the personal details at that. I am looking for a community to get any kind of insight on what to expect as my son begins his career in the navy. I was informed by the ombudsman for my son's sub that the only resources available to me were through the FRG group on Facebook. Since I don't do Facebook (see my previous caveat about being a private person), I am looking for alternate sources.

....are not available anywhere else. The amount of personal growth and maturity I see in him are not seen in his non-military peers. He is much more independent and responsible than he would be, had he not chosen this path.
Our Navy experience so far...
has been positive and maturing., has presented us with many questions.
