I'm a Christian, wife, mom, and teacher. I am a proud mom of two sons that decided to join the Navy and serve our country. One is at boot camp now and one leaves in February. I am a newbie and don't know much about any of this, so I appreciate any help I will receive.
I am here to support my

The Navy offers opportunities for my sons to grow into the men that they will be proud of and to serve our country while learning and helping others.
Our Navy experience so far...

Those with an LS contract MAY receive their orders for their first duty station while still in Boot Camp, some as late as the last week before PIR.
(Those with the LS rating who will be on Subs go to Meridian after BC and then to Groton for BESS. If your recruit has a contract for LSS, then you will also want to join Sub Moms and check out Naval Submarine Base New London Facebook Page.)
Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) to change "Anyone" to "Members" so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web. Don’t forget to click the “Save” button at the bottom.
There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

I see you have joined Logistic Specialists; you may also want to join Sailors attending A School in Meridian, Mississippi and Meridian Mississippi A School family&friends. You will also want to check out NAS Meridian Facebook Page and NTTC Meridian Facebook Page.
The Rating Information Card for LS can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ls.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.) Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. Plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
I have given some info on timing in http://navyformoms.ning.com/forum/topics/pls-help-when-can-i-resign....
