Hi, I saw your post on the Nuke Wives page.. My husband and I are from Texas as well. We met while I was living in College Station.. Anyways, you were asking about the process. I would say call the housing office in Goose Creek and see if they have any of the new 3 bedrooms available. If not then maybe they can put you on a wait list. My husband and I are in New York right now. He has just started Prototype (the third school) .. Also usually takes about a week for your sailor to come get you after he arrives in Goose Creek. I saw that the girl posted on there saying do the Navy Move. We did the Dity move. With the Dity move your husband will be able to come get you. If you do the Navy move i dont think he'll be aloud to but i'm not 100% sure. Also if you do the Navy move get the insurance for your things, just in case things are stolen. I hope that helps.. If you have any questions feel free to ask. :)
We didn't have the money either when we moved to Charleston. What will happen is they will brief your husband and he will put down how he wants to move. If you do the Navy move then they will move you on Their time.. So my husband thought about that but it would take them a month to get to me to move our things, after he got to goose creek.. So he decided to go with the dity move. With that your husband will write down a how many pounds he thinks you guys will be moving. With that the navy will up front you guys the money. Moving to New York my husband wrote down like 5000lbs and they up fronted us 2500. That's for the truck and gas. From Texas to SC, I'm not sure how much he estimated and I don't remember how much they gave us. It's whatever works for you guys but There is that option where they upfront you the money. Sometimes you even pocket money, that's why we do it. Oh with the Navy move- it takes about 2 to 3 weeks after you get to your duty station to get your things. I hear good and bad things about the navy moves.. I know it's so tough not knowing what will happen. My husband and I weren't married until a day before he left Chicago to go to SC and we had a 4 month old. With you being pregnant the Navy move will probably be a lot easier, and congrats btw.
