I'm a liberal Democrat, who has raised a son who loves and wants to serve his country. I hate the idea of war, but understand that the best way to avoid war is to be prepared for it...My son will go to Monterey to study Crypto-Linguistics after BC- either Arabic or Mandariin.

    I don't think they will call him any sooner.  My son left on the date they had given him.  But, others may have a different story!  I believe the Navy has a waiting list, so unless he changes jobs, he will probably go in mid-November.  It is hard on them while they are waiting to go!

    Our son will be here for 10 days on leave in April--so looking forward to it!  He will leave on his first long tour in May.  We attended PIR (graduation) from our son's BC--it was great!  It is so overwhelming and you are just so proud of your kid.

    Oh, and we are not military people in any way!  But, still so proud of our boy and his accomplishments in the Navy.  And, it is very cool to see everyone in their uniform, the flag, music, etc. at PIR.  Not to mention looking for your child in the sea of uniforms!
