I live in Cape Cod, Mass, am a single mom and have only one child. My soon to be 19 (1/31/92) year old son is in his 5/6 week of boot camp in Great Lakes. I miss him terribly, but I am one hell of a proud Momma.
I am here to support my

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?

When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
To be patient and less worrying.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Next time you hear from your son, ask him what rate he is going into or perhaps you already know that. It sounds like he could be going into AECF, which is Advanced Electronics Computer Field and that is the group for ETs which are Electronic Techs and FCs which are FireControl (not fireman). If he is in that group, you will want to join us at : http://www.navyformoms.com/group/fcsfirecontrol
Or send me a note, my hubby was in that rate for over 10 years and now our son is as well. But based on the length of school that you are talking about I'm thinking that might be where he is heading for A school and if so...it's a GOOD thing.
HI! I was thinking about you - I know you are 'fairly' new to MA Navy Moms - and I just wondered if you would like to be involved in the Christmas adoption in some way? I know it seems weird to be planning for the holiday now, but we have to get everything ready and shipped early enough to get to the ship in time for Christmas morning. It would be great to have a packing party on the Cape. We have Moms who live there who don't usually get to come to things because it is always a trip for them. You don't have to host the party, but perhaps we can work on something together?? :) I will send you a Friend Request so we can PM.
Your son is very handsome. You must miss him so... My son is deploying in about 18 days :( I hate to even think about it, I'm going to miss him so much.
Good byes are so hard, but it makes the Welcome Home that much sweeter!
