No the Navy will not fly him home, only give him the time off provided the Red Cross is notified so they can contact his command as the verifying authority. I looked into flying for a funeral and it is very expensive because the airline will not double or triple book the seat, so for me it was about $2500.00 for a ticket. Yes the Navy Relief can get him money or ticket but I believe it needs to be repaid.
