The Navy offers opportunities that...
Devotion, patriotism, discipline, and a family. My brother was a petty officer retired and lived in Florida where he was tragically killed. The Navy family there took such good care of us during that horrible time of loss. I will never forget that. My sister was also in the Navy.

You may want to join Grandmas for navy.

If you know your recruit's PIR date, go to http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that. If you don't know the PIR date, join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together. I also invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening.

Welcome Gmalynda.  I too am a Grandmother supporting my grandson who aspires to be a SEAL.  I encourage you to join the Grandmas for Navy group as well as this group.

Actually, I think you just click on the blue link that lemonelephant posted below.  Then you have to wait until you are accepted into that group as they want to make sure you are really who you say you are and not someone with bad intent.  No I've not attended any ceremonies because my Grandson is still in the application process.  We Grandmothers must stick together and support not only our grandchildren but their parents (our children) as well.  I think they have a lot of "mixed emotions" at this time...they are excited for them but scared as well.  I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
