Tracie - HUGS! I don't want you to think any of us are brushing you off or not relating to your feelings, like I said on the group, many of us our very busy, and usually Saturdays I sort of fill in the gap at times but I have a lot of deadlines currently. We are here for you and feel free to reach out to us personally if you need something. You may post a comment on our profile page if you need something. You can get to us by clicking on our icon and it will take us to our profile page where you can leave a comment as I am doing on your page here.
Hey, these feelings that you are having is normal. It's hard knowing they will be leaving soon. Make as many memories as you can while he is here. My son and I wrote each other a note and we did not read it till we were missing each other.
He said it helped him so much just to be able to read it and know that we were all pulling for him and it helped him get thru boot camp. Also, I wrote to him twice a day I would start in the morning and then finish at night before I went to bed. I would mail him a letter every day. this is a roller coaster ride of emotions but we are here for you. Cry when you need to and it is ok to do so.
Once you get that form letter and that call communication begins with getting letters and sometimes they can earn calls so you might get an unexpected call. :)
Staying busy is key. I started working alot. :) You always have them on your mind while they are gone. Mine is my youngest but you will get thru it.
I also tell the new moms that boot camp is for us as much as it is for them. While they are getting stronger so are we!!!
I was busy this morning or I would have replied right away. I'm usally on during the weekends and at night during the week.
Let us know how you are doing and if you have any other questions.
I hope everything works out for your son but if he does not pass his fitness test, as B'sNukeMom says, "it is not the end of the world." It may seem like that for a bit but there are many other options for your son and the Navy is a hard life. Most people won't even join and then of those that do, many of them only serve their enlistment time. If your son is having doubts that is normal and it will be up to him to decide what he wants most. But you are not a failure as a mom and he is not a failure as a SR. I know you can not write him letters and mail them but you can still write encouraging notes and have them ready to mail when you do have a form letter. Also, no matter your religious beliefs, I believe there is a connection between a mother and her child and for me that meant praying for my son, for others it means sending positive thoughts. You are his biggest cheerleader and encourager, even if you can't tell him in person!
