Join the group, DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in February. You will meet others with loved ones leaving this week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.
I also suggest that you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.
Be sure to join your PIR group once you get The Form Letter.
Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR, but may fly out on Sunday due to flight availability issues. Plan to leave on Sunday if you are able. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Your Sailor will be assigned to a class "A" school for a rating within the AIRC program while in Naval Aircrew Candidate School (NACCS). That assignment will be based on his/her test scores, personal desires, needs of the Navy, and continued eligibility for the aircrew program. The Rating Information Card for AIRC can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/aircrew.pdf; the one for Naval Aircrewmen Mechanical (AWF) can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/awf.pdf; the one for Naval Aircrewmen (Operator) (AWO) can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/awo.pdf; and the one for Naval Aircrewmen (Avionics) (AWV) can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/awv.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)
