My second SR is at boot camp. He will be an ET Nuke.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was concerned or afraid
The Navy offers opportunities that...
I think that she may be greatly improved. Moms are talking about things that I never even considered. My sailor is concerned about the language that she is picking up.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
Hi, wanted to welcome you to AECF group. I see your daughter is still in boot camp so she probably doesn't know yet if she will be an ET or an FC but both are great rates with lots of schooling on the front end. Expect her to be in GL about a year for school and then she will move to another state for C school. Length and location of C school is not determined until the end of A school so you have a while before you need to worry about that. Hope you are hearing from your daughter now, it can take a few weeks. Please let us know what questions you may have.
Yay! Once those letters start flowing they are pretty consistent each week. I love the crytology field, it's a smart place to be in both the Navy and civilian life. My son has thought about trying to move into it as well but he's not sure they will allow that after sending him to school for two years for a different rate and he just advanced to E5 so he's pretty happy at the moment and hasn't mentioned Crypto since he got his advancement.
Your daughter still has a good opportunity to live in Japan, many of our ETs and FCs are stationed there. In fact, we lived there for a number of years while my hubby was in the Navy. He was an FC and now our son is an FC as well. Our son was born in Japan and had hoped for orders there but the system he was trained on was very new and not on any ships in JN at the time so he went to Hawaii where he is very happy.
Do not be surprised IF your daughter tells you she is not an ET. At the end of boot camp, they will call in all of the recruits going into the AECF program and they basically tell them...you are an ET and you are an FC. There don't let them pick, they are just assigned the rate but the good news is both ETs and FCs are good rates.
Congratulations to Kim! You will love having her at A school, you can talk almost daily. There have been some "holds" waiting for classes to begin but it's better recently than it had been. Be sure to visit with us in the AECf group, it's very active and you will be able to keep up with what is happening with her ET rate, school, life in GL, etc. and if you have any questions - ask!!!
