Hi Brandonsmom- just a few suggestions that I wish I had done.

have him leave you a voice mail on your phone so when and if you get down you can play the message and hear his voice.

make sure he has a calling card for phone calls when he has earned them. he will be able to buy extras at the NEX but at least he will have one if he's earned a phone call before he gets to the NEX

make sure he has the complete names of at least four people that he wants to come to graduation (PIR) although he might only be able to have 3 guests. he won't know how many until he gets assigned his ship and division.

have him write down a list of phone numbers and address as he won't have a cell phone there and pull the list in his blk wallet.

if I think of anything else I'll post it to your page.

lastly..Thank him for me for his committment to service and how PROUD we all are of him.

For you.. join the group Maryland Mom's, Boot camp mom's and when you get the formal letter the group for his PIR(graduation)

My SR is from MD also, he left 1/8/13, his PIR is coming up 3/8/13 and I'm so excited.

hope this helps in any small way.

  • Recruit Man - Ronny

Welcome to NavyforMoms.com.  My name is Ronny and my son has been in the Navy since February of 2012.  He is currently stationed in San Diego with a Helicopter Squadron.  He is an Aviation Structural Mechanic.  I hope you find all the info you are looking for here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.  My son is 3rd Generation Navy, so I do know a little about the Navy..:)

If you have a new Sailor who is in Boot Camp, or leaving soon, visit CallsforRecruits.org and I will send you FREE Pre-Paid Phone cards for your SR to use while they are in boot camp.  I started that program when my son left for Boot Camp :)
Welcome Aboard and I wish your Sailor Fair Winds and Following Seas.
