Hi Michael- when my SO was at A school in San Antonio last yr, Navy was not allowed to take the EMT national exam along w Airforce classmates, but he said the Navy just recently made that change. So by the time you get to Fort Sam, you should be able to take the exam right after EMT section is done. Good luck!
You may have already seen this link, but hopefully it will prepare you for BC. This is the 'nice' version, they start yelling at you the moment you land at the airport, but it's all part of the training: http://bootcamp4me.com/branches/us-navy-boot-camp/#.UoACWGS9Kc0. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k7GTgx7CXaI&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%...
The first week as you get situated is tough, but know it will get better. It helps a ton to get letters from home. I recommend you tell a loved one, the one you'll be mailing your address to (the 'Form Letter') to share it with others so they can all write you. You won't know which "ship" or barrack you'll be in until after the first week of processing, so there is no way of knowing what your address is ahead of time.

Check out Basic Medical Technician Corpsman Program Facebook Page. The Rating
Information Card for HM can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/hm.pdf; it indicates 19 weeks, but "A" School is 14 weeks after classing up. You will most likely fly out the day after PIR.
