Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
I have never had any experience with the Navy or military, I am proud of my son for joining, but scared and worried. I think it's a great opportunity but still have mixed emotions.
Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect while you have a recruit and to help you prepare for PIR. Since you will soon have a Recruit at the RTC, you should change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted." Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Since your future Sailor has a contract for Hospital Corpsman (HM), sometime between now and the end of BC, join HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio and check out Basic Medical Technician Corpsman Program Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for HM can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/hm.pdf; it indicates 19 weeks, but "A" School is 14 weeks after classing up. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend. I invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Most going to "A" School for HM fly ut the day after PIR and do not remain in the THU. You can double check in HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio.
