- Roll with the punches. Things can change a lot and you need to be able to adjust to quick changes. Be understanding with your sailor. They never want to be away from you, they just have to be. The whole time they are thinking about when they can be back home again. Not everyone supports the decision. Try to not have fights with family members who are nasty about joining the military, and try to make up for it by being super proud happy and supportive. Go Navy
