I am a wife and a mother of 4. My oldest is 23 yrs and lives in Stockton. My 18 yr old decided to join the Navy 2 weeks before his orientation for college. I was so sad and proud of him at the same time. This is very hard for me to grasp. He left for boot camp on February 8th. I'm still trying to find ways to deal the unknown. I pray he is doing well.

Hi Lisa, Just reading your comment I was So Proud of your son! I think it's a really great decision he made. It sounds like he decided on his own that he wanted to be a part of something bigger in life. I have another son who is a senior in college, and my younger guy joined the Navy....somehow....I'm more excited for my Navy son! I truly believe that our country would be a better place if all our kids served at least 2 years in the military. I have such a great respect for these kids that step up and serve their country. My college son....well he's wonderful and brilliant, he's in a lot of debt and looks for party's with his friends on weekends! I wish he would go in OCS....I keep asking! anyhow...I sound like a recruitment poster! haha didnt mean to, just speaking from the heart. My son arrived in Chicago this past Mon night at 2am, sounds like our guys arrived at the same time. keep in touch and we'll see if they land in the same division/ship? I am not as hardened as I seem...i actually go in and out of waves of sadness, and miss my son horribly. Take Care and talk soon, Michelle
