Note: This law only covers debt incurred prior to military service. SCRA Eligibility The SCRA covers all Active Duty servicemembers, Reservists and the members of the National Guard while on active duty. The protection begins on the date of entering active duty and generally terminates within 30 to 90 days after the date of discharge from active duty.
I would first ask if you have a financial POA (power of attorney.) if so, and you have a copy of the orders to go to bootcamp (and you want minimal orders written up that the recruiter can help you get faxed to you) you then need to call anyone who is owed debt. Ask them if they accept the orders toward lowering or stopping interest. If so, get them faxed to them. The best thing to do is ask, ask again, ask again, speak to supervisors and ask again. The creditors will know what is eligible, etc. Again, this only covers debt incurred BEFORE they joined.
