You will experience a myriad of emotions - some never experienced before at the same time. It's better to say "my son" "my recruit" rather than his given name (to be save). Remember, often when you post on a group (unless the group is private), you comments will be visible for all to see. So you want to be careful what you post. My profile is private. You can see it because you and I are friends. If you want to make your profile private, just go to Settings (on upper right). Later on when you join many groups, you may find getting tons of email notifications annoying - don't fret - just click "stop following" on your groups and you won't be getting them anymore. Don't forget to watch those videos on the survival guide. Lots to learn for you and your son but exciting too. My son is on his second deployment. He has been in for almost 5 years. Seems like yesterday that he started. You'll find many supportive people in San Fran area, Nor Ca and on this site.

My recruit left on the 15th of June too! I received my first call that night short loving and a little sarcastic:) He said apparently he's an f.....n Genious, not in a good way! I guess he got cursed and yelled at. We tried to prepare him for that experience. I don't expect to hear from him for about 4 weeks but I hope i get a letter soon, Nice to meet you. Sharmyn, It will be great talking to you.  Have you gotten the form letter?  I haven't. I got the address from the recruiter but was advised by people on chat to wait until I get the form letter in case it is wrong.
