A little about me:: retired early due to shoulder surgeries from usps, still getting used to florida, moved here 2 and a half years ago, my extended family lives here. my husband passed 3 years ago so needless to say many changes in my life.

Join Avionics Technicians (AV) Moms, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!, and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola and check out Airman Family and Friends.

AV Sailors attend common basic electronics training, after which they are selected for either the Aviation Electrician’s Mate (AE) rating (Aviation Electronic - AE and https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ae.pdf) or the Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) rating (Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) and https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/at.pdf). (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)

Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR, but may fly out on Sunday due to flight availability issues. Plan to leave on Sunday if you are able. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

AT’s will be assigned to Aviation Electronics Technician-Organizational (AT-O) or Aviation Electronics Technician-Intermediate (AT-I). The assignment to AE or AT may be made prior to shipping to the RTC for some. For those with an AT contract prior to BC, the assignment to AT-O or AT-I is made soon after arriving at Pensacola. If your Username contains your last name, you need to make changes 1, 2, and 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). (If it doesn't, you still need to make change 3.)

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
