So far it's all a strange, new, scary experience to me. I haven't met any career Navy people with wives and children so it doesn't seem to be a branch of the military that supports family life. I am not ready for this or happy about it! I think the recruiters are manipulative with young people.

Hello Lockhartgma, my fiance is also a reservist with an IS rating. He will graduate bootcamp on 11 MAY. He may get the weekend to spend in Chicago he says but he may just fly out to Virginia Beach the next day. Normally they will be on hold for a week or two then will attend A school for 13 weeks. If there is a long wait for your sailor to class up they can take leave and go home for a few days. Hold shouldn't be but a few weeks. It just depends. C school classes range from 4,6,9 or 12 weeks. Mainly reserves will be in the 6 week class. Hardly any in the 12 week. All C schools will be attended at Dam Neck In Virginia Beach. Then your sailor comes home! So that is something Im looking forward too.

    Hi,

I'm also from Texas.  My daughter leaves from Shreveport in July.  I see you are the Grandmother.  My mother is not liking this either.

My grandson is leaving on Feb 12 as far as we know at the moment, then supposedly there is a high probability he will go straight to school in your neck of the woods (Texas).....guess I will be clocking up the miles on my car lol.....Am sorry you are so worried about all of this and don't feel its the right path for yours....I am also concerned but as mine is 20, I am supporting him as much as possible....I didn't 2 years ago when he talked about the Army, etc in his last year of school....
