Congrats to your LO on the getting to OCS. Mine was commissioned 9/2015. If you have not hear another good faceboook page is officer training command Newport. Here they wil post pictures of the classes and you too can play finding Waldo looking for you LO. I was able to meet up with our LO in the evening the first night we arrived for a short hug on base. The Hi Moms event is a must go to. Mine did have his orders so after the commissioning program and getting his records he was free to leave the base. For his group they had to get out of their rooms as the next group was moving in. If possible add a few days for exploring the area. We went as a family to Boston after for a few days It was a wonderful trip. As the others have stated no news is good news the first few weeks.

What area will he be in--Aviation, Intel, Nuclear Field, Supply....? I may have more info for you.

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) and change the Privacy Settings for this page from "Anyone" to "Members."
If your loved one is now in OCS, then you can change "Waiting to attend Officer Candidate School" above to "In Officer Candidate School."
There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
