I noticed that you mentioned getting a phone card for your son. Like you I was not told to send him one and until recently I didn't realize I should have. If you log onto the website below AT&T offers great military rates. I just bought my husband 150 minute phone card for $8.25 or so. The do not actually send you a card but they give you all the info you need online right when you order it and then you mail the info to your son. Very simple. I hope this helps you some.
