Personally, I think girls are probably harder to deal with letting go than boys are. At least for me. Maybe, because my girls were the oldest and they were only going to college - but military life is different and we get concerned for them! Especially our females.

    Shoosh,

I see you recently joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!  Sorry I am late getting this welcome to you, but we are a close, friendly, supportive group of Moms and look forward to getting to know you and your sailor.  I see your daughter is in boot camp now, and that you have already joined in on our conversations on our group page.  Feel free to ask any questions you may have, talk freely about your feelings, fears or concerns, or just chat about life.  We are all in different phases of our daughter’s Naval careers - from newbies to those whose daughters have been in for several years - from officer to enlisted!!! We support all our sailor girls and each other as well. Not just during the Bootcamp days but the weeks and months following, as they go off to school, first duty station, or first deployment.  Let us support you when you're missing her, lend an ear when you need to vent, and celebrate with you when you want to brag!!  Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!!

    Shoosh,

My heart goes out to you!!  I know these bootcamp weeks are so full of stress, worry and sadness.  Just know that your feelings are not ever wrong!!!  I cried so much when my first daughter left for bootcamp.  It was just two months after my mother passed away. I tried to appear strong whenever I was around others, but in my own room I would just let it out!!!!  And you'd be surprised how just little things can bring on the tears, from a song on the radio to a favorite store!!!!  Hang in there - I promise it will get better once they leave boot and you will have that easy communication again!!!  God Bless your daughter and let her know there are moms all over the country that are proud of her and praying for her!!!!
