I am an assistant childcare director. I taught special education for 20 years before that. I am married and have 3 grown children. I am really enjoying "empty-nesting". My husband and I are becoming more physically fit.We learned to scuba dive last year. I've lost 20 pounds recently and am training for my first 5K. Our oldest daughter is heading to OCS in June after college graduation.

Welcome to NavyforMoms.com.  My name is Ronny and my son has been in the Navy since February of 2012.  He is currently stationed in San Diego with a Helicopter Squadron.  He is an Aviation Structural Mechanic.  I hope you find all the info you are looking for here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.  My son is 3rd Generation Navy, so I do know a little about the Navy..:)

If you have a new Sailor who is in Boot Camp, or leaving soon, visit CallsforRecruits.org and I will send you FREE Pre-Paid Phone cards for your SR to use while they are in boot camp.  I started that program when my son left for Boot Camp :)
Welcome Aboard and I wish your Sailor Fair Winds and Following Seas.

I am not too familiar with OCS, but as far as I can tell, it is pretty much like boot camp...and I know that enlisted boot camp, they cannot have any packages...but they can have mail....mail is very important to them, it really keeps them going.  :) I have had some requests in the past for phone cards for OCS candidates, so I am not sure if they can take their cell phones or not.  I wish your daughter the best of luck with her naval career.  Fair Winds and Following Seas....:)
