    Mary, I was away for 4 days visiting my oldest daughter Alicia, but I saw your post about how often your son might be home.  My daughter Katie left for Japan in April 2009 and was home Dec 2009 (over Christmas) and Dec 2010 (over New Year's.  My son Thomas and I went to see her July 2010 for their ship's Gator Cruise (4 days/3 nights on her ship).  Katie plans on coming home this December as well.  Some don't come home due to the cost of the flight or not filling out a leave chit in time, or just don't choose to.
