Danielle - I asked in the Beyond BC group about the phones and Ummi replied but she posted it in that group accidently. I have been traveling and not able to keep up well with this. This was her reply the other day - "EdsMomDanielle - yes ma'am, your Sailor will get his phone back after PIR. Goes back to the barracks to change, gets his phone!"
So, maybe they are having the sailors change out of their dress uniform after PIR. The most important thing, remember to stay flexible and go with the flow. Your son should know what his protocol for the day is. And my apologies if this information is too late for you. I have lost track of who is coming and going from PIR.
