Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. Welcome to the Navy... Everything will be ok! The First part is some things to do before your SR leaves IF you Can, It’s NOT ESSENTIAL! Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 10 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)
Rolo's Mom - I saw your question to Mom of Joseph on the BC Mom group page. I encourage you to go ahead and join the Nuke Mom Group on this site. - NUKE moms - Navy For Moms (ning.com)
One of the discussions that is currently visible on that group page is a discussion that my son helped me write back in 2017, so it may have some outdated information, but I and others have tried to add to that conversation with further information or updates. - Nuke A school daily schedule -
My son has completed his enlistment and is now in the reserves, but he was an ETN.
I am so happy that you got into PIR in time. That is crazy!!! I have never heard of such a back up before.
When you are settled, be sure to come join us at the Beyond BC group - Beyond BC - Navy For Moms (ning.com) - it is a group for everyone to hang out at that has been through BC, and I encourage you to stay in touch with the BC Mom group. Sometimes I post requests for people to help with a question or such as well.
