Beth - Welcome to the BC Moms and Loved Ones group. We are glad to have you. Be sure to come by and say hello when you have a chance. I am sure you are going through a lot of emotions right now, and that is understandable. Remind your son to give you a call when he gets to the airport in GL (Great Lakes) as that will be the last time he can call and talk to you for a bit.

Once they get to RTC (Recruit Training Center) they will be very busy and will not be able to make their "I'm Here" call until maybe very late in the night or early morning. I think my call came in around 11 pm. It is a "scripted" call and they won't be able to say anything except what is on the paper, but you can tell them I love you while they are talking.  They will likely be trying to tell you when they might be able to call again.

There is a lot of information on our group page. However, scroll down through that, past the discussions and you will find the Comment Wall on that page. This is where we post our daily discussions and more people are likely to see your comments and reply there.

    Welcome Aboard!

Beth - Here is the link for the Texas' Moms group that is on this site. We just had another member join the other day who is also a part of this group as well. Texas' Moms - Navy For Moms (ning.com)

I know today will be a busy day but I just want to encourage you that the more you post the easier it is to connect with others who are in BC at the same time as you are.

Beth, Yes, "No News is good news" is the best thing to hold on to. There is a lot happening when they get to BC and sometimes it just doesn't work for the "I'm here" call. Also, if his cell phone went dead, he may not have been able to call either.

On our pages here to the upper left there are links to a couple of BC videos that might be helpful to give you an idea of what he may be experiencing. It is not much but it gives you a little bit so you can feel connected to your SR. You may also start writing letters and then send them once you have an address.
