Iyonna - Good morning and welcome to the N4M site. I want to encourage you to come join the BC Mom and Loved ones group on here. Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) - Navy For Moms (ning.com)

From your profile, you indicate that your husband is at BC and that is okay, we have had various family members join this group over the years. There is a lot of information on that group page. It is easier to view this site on a computer, so if you are on your mobile device we usually recommend that you go to desktop mode, to not miss anything. The Comment Wall area on the BC Mom pg is all the way towards the bottom past information and past discussions, but that is the best place to post your questions or share your emotions.

As for the question you posted regarding hearing from your husband, I am not sure how things are with Sandboxx now (that wasn't an option that I knew of when my son was in 6+ years ago, and they still sent the form letters by mail with their mailing address) but when my son was in, it was about 2-3 weeks before I had his mailing address and I think it was 3 - 4 weeks before I had his first letter.

Also, in the middle of the BC Mom group page, under information, is an approximate timeline of when things will likely happen. My son was not allowed to write on any days other than Sunday afternoon. He always said he only had about 10 minutes to write. Their letters were mailed on Monday and mine arrived on Thursday, those on the west coast or farther would usually get them later.

I am not sure why there doesn't seem to be any way to reply to your discussion that you posted - Hello! I’m a New navy spouse and my husband left for basic training January 7th 2024 and I was just wondering when should I expect a phone call or a letter from him ? because I feel like I’m going crazy lol I’ve been using Sandboxx to write him letters and they are saying delivered but I haven’t gotten any replies yet.

But here is my response - It is most likely that it will still be another week or so before you receive a physical letter from your spouse. I am assuming that if you are writing letters to him that you received his mailing address through the Sandboxx app instead of receiving a paper (form) letter in the mail. A recruit mailroom petty officer from your husband's division will have to be assigned and trained before they can start dispersing the mail to the SRs (seaman recruits), and that takes a bit as well. We call this time The GREAT SILENCE and for all practical purposes, it is your bootcamp training as well, to prepare you for when he is out on deployment and radio silence.

This is why you make connections to places like N4Ms and other groups as you continue on your navy journey.

I'm feeling the same way right now. My husband left on the 24th of Jan. When to expect a letter. I have no info on anything right now.
