Dani_NukeMom - Welcome!! I am one of the "seasoned" moms on this site that welcomes new members to the BC Mom group! I also happen to have a Nuke, so I am a part of that group. We are glad you have joined us. Your profile says your loved one is thinking about joining. Feel free to ask questions in either of the groups. The BC Mom group focuses more on answering questions, offering encouragement and support while you are going through the preparation for and SR (seaman recruit) time at BC.
The Nuke Moms group will be more helpful in answering any questions you might have about the Nuke Pipeline (the series of 3 schools they do to be qualified as a Nuke for sea duty). And we are there to support you from the time your new sailor arrives at GC (Goose Creek, SC) where Naval Nuclear Powr Training Command is located at. (blue letters are hyperlinks on this site - some people are not familiar with that, so I share the tidbit with most everyone.)
The best place to come ask questions on each group page is to scroll down past general information on the group page, past the discussions until you find the Comment Wall. If you post your questions here, more members of the group are likely to see your question and reply. I prefer to view this site on my computer, but if you are on a mobile device, we recommend you put it into desktop mode.
Finally, I am sending you a friend request, that way if you would like to reach out privately and ask any questions about the Nuke program you may do so. Please reply to this comment though and let me know you have accepted my friend invitation. I do not receive an email notice for requests approved and I generally log off and on to this site as I see something come into my email feed and I am able to log on.
My son is nearing the end of his enlistment, but he has been on sea duty for almost 4 years now.
I see you accepted my friend request. I will send you a message soon and then you can see how this works. In the meantime, this discussion on the BC Mom group might be helpful. Private Messages - Creating & Sending + OPSEC
