Very small world.  While I live in Jarrettsville, I have two sons who actually go to school just over the PA line in Fawn Grove,Kennard Dale High School.  I also have two step kids.  They are the same age as my own kids.  They went/go to North Harford High School.  My step son enlisted shortly after my son enlisted... but he enlisted in the Marines.  He is stationed in Hawaii.  Our two younger kids are 16.

I'm confused... does your son or your husband have seafood allergies?

    Cathy,

Ok.... so I guess, I haven't been keeping up.  Your husband is about to retire... from the Navy? And you have just one who is serving... in Groton at school, still??

I don't know what I would do if I was allergic to crabs!! It is so much a part of our family.  I am the youngest of 8 kids. I grew up in Cockeysville (Baltimore County).  And we get together a few times throughout the summer to just enjoy each other & crabs.  Most of us are still fairly local.  MD/PA line.  My oldest sister lives in Florida, though.  And.... we have a boat that we use almost every weekend in the summer.  It will be wierd this summer without two of the boys.  We spend the summer fishing, tubing, crabbing, etc etc.  We also have a jet ski. That will keep the last remaining boy occupied somewhat without his brothers.  But because we crab.... well, it is almost an every weekend event for us to steam up a bushel & invite family & friends to join us.

As far as the others joining.... my son is 16 & is taking it all in... listening, watching, listening to others, etc.  He will be enlisting.  He is just trying to decide which branch.  I told him (and the other two), I would rather they did not enlist in the Army or the Marines.  But whatever they chose, I would be proud of them & support them in any way that I can.  I'm trying to nudge him in the direction of the Navy, but I'm not sure that I'm being successful.  He adores his step-brother who loves being a Marine!!

And ... my step daughter, also 16, mentioned last week for the first time, that she may join the Navy if she is unable to get into one of the colleges that she wants to get accepted to.

So.... never a dull moment in my life.

What part of WV are you in?  My company has an office in Charleston.
