Hi All - my sailor finally received his ship date for boot camp, which is in two weeks! it seemed like forever ago when he swore in at MEPS; thanks to all for your advice and the waiting game. I…Continue
Hello Moms - I am very quiet on the site, but have been reading all the comments and echo all of you. Here are my 2 cents.
My SR left for BC exactly 1 week ago today and I feel blessed to be missing my son; there are so many other circumstances that could cause me to miss him, circumstances that are all too familiar when living in a big city with lots of crime and "NOT GOOD PEOPLE", things beyond our control. This gives me solace...he will come home, albeit short and sweet; he will be a better, stronger, smarter man with a future ahead of him. I think I cried more before he left in anticipation of him leaving.
I want to share this with all of you; I watched the movie "Otherhood" on Netflix, it was o.k. not great, but Angela Bassett said a line that rang so true, I started balling, out of nowhere - it hit home!
She said to her son in the movie "you have grown up and figured out who you are without me, I guess I haven't figured out who I am without you" (cue the tears) and that for me was it.
We've dedicated our lives or the better part, to our children. We kept them safe because no one could protect them better than MOM. That is our superpower! Now our work is done - now what ?!?
Moms - you are all great, and because of all of you, my son gets to be in the company of the finest!
Thank you All...
