You can vent away.  My son calls because I think he feels guilty if he didn't.  He doesn't do small talk well and our talks are about 20 min on average.  It really feels like it is a chore for him.  But I will take it.  He is not always so social either.  If given a choice, he would prefer to stay home and play video games.

Hmm... I hope their graduation isn't scheduled for December! My son never mentioned anything about Power School prep - sounds like they jumped right in with classes on day 1. I'm feeling pretty good about the 10/27 date, but I will let you know asap if/when I hear anything that contradicts that. Might be good to book your trip soon to get good rates, but with the option to cancel. Would probably be worth it to pay for travel insurance if you have to, just in case. Let me know how it goes!

Hello! I was wondering where you were! Sorry to hear that your son in being silent again. It's crazy, isn't it? We're going through the same thing. It's been a month since we visited him in Charleston (FANTASTIC trip, btw!), and I've only received one text from him in that time. We've tried calling and texting... nothing from him. When we were there, I bugged him about his graduation date. He said he wasn't sure of the exact date but would try to find out. He still hasn't confirmed it, but one of the other nuke moms said her son started Power School on May 17, too, and he was graduating on October 27. Your son also started on 5/17, right? I did a little research and looked up the graduations that have already taken place this year on YouTube. They're all exactly 8 weeks apart, so October 27 works out if that pattern holds. My son's class number is 2304-8. Maybe your son meant to say 2304 instead of 2302? I hope you hear from him! We took a risk and booked our flight, hotel and rental car for that weekend, with the option to cancel up to almost the last minute. I'll let you know if I get any more info. Good luck!

I am glad that you are hearing from your son more often. Hopefully he is getting the hang of things and feeling better about what is expected of him. I will stay hopeful with you as well for a visit.

Thank you for replying on BC Mom today! How are you doing? Have you heard anything from your son lately?

Q's Momma - Thanks for reaching out to our newest member. I see you posted some information on her profile page as well. That is great!!

Looking at your comments below, it seems that your sailor might still be running silent. It is hard to deal with. Most of them do get into their groove and just focus, which is not easy for us Mommas.

Three days is pretty good! :) Try to stretch it out a bit longer if you can, as hard as that is to do. After we gave our son a couple of weeks to get his #@*% together, he replied to the first text I sent him. Neither of us said anything about his reasons for needing space... we just kinda let that go and proceeded as normal. I hope your son will be in touch very soon.

Hello Q's Momma! Sorry I've been silent... just got back from vacation and am catching up on all the posts. I tried viewing them from my phone one day and it wasn't working worth a darn, so here I am. My son has been more responsive since graduating "A" school, but not as much as I'd like. We've talked on the phone only a couple of times, but he's better at texting. Sometimes I won't get a reply for a couple of days (he, like your son, blames it on watch, cleaning duty and tiredness), but he usually gets back to me. I hope you hear from your boy soon. I know how frustrating that is! Have you tried writing him a letter? That was Chipmunk's advice to me when we hadn't heard from our son for weeks. I was in the process of writing one when he finally texted my husband, telling us he was ok but needed some time to get through the end of school. Please let me know if you hear from him. In the meantime, I'll be praying for ya!

Hi Q's Momma! Yes, I FINALLY heard from my son last Sunday night. We texted for about an hour (it was late and his roommate was sleeping, so he couldn't talk) and then he called me yesterday morning. First time I had talked to him in about 9 weeks! He said he just wanted to get through school, so he wasn't calling anyone until after graduation. I said I hope this doesn't become the norm! Did you catch the graduation on YouTube or Facebook? It was cool to see, since we couldn't be there in person. As for T-Track, he said it will last about 8 weeks. The first few days are Indoc, and then they start their work schedules. I don't know what all they'll be doing, but it sounds like they'll be busy. Not as busy as they were during school though. He said Power School starts May 17. I hope this helps, and I pray that you hear from your son soon! Please keep me posted!

Happy belated birthday to you! I'm so happy to hear that your son remembered and called you. That is a wonderful gift. We're planning on doing the same as you - skipping A school graduation and hopefully attending PS grad. Our son is still pretty silent, but he did text his sister last weekend and said he's probably going to have to have knee surgery after graduation. This may be a good thing, because he seems to keep injuring it and not giving it time to heal properly. Kids, right? Hope you have a great week!
