I'm from Northern California. My husband is a Navy veteran, and we've been married almost 29 years. My husband's first ship, USS Iowa, is now a museum and we are both on the staff. We have five kids, three of which joined in April. I am currently working on restoring my 65 Mustang, and collecting more yarn for knitting than I could possibly use in my lifetime.

I will definitely reach out to Raegan about Rebecca! When all is said and done, Raegan will have been at boot camp for 11 weeks! By no fault of her own (quarantine - even though she was vaxed, waiting for her division to be filled). I feel so bad for her. 8 weeks is long and hard enough! I just pray she is meeting lifelong friends - maybe Rebecca will be one of them! Is this a private message? I'm wondering if they would even know each other by first names? If not, I will definitely give my email or whatever, so we can get them in touch.

Feel free to join us in the Beyond BC group. I had a couple join the other day that are still at BC, so even though you still have one in BC, one headed there, you have one at A school now. Beyond BC - Navy For Moms (ning.com)

mustangmom65,

Wow!!! I thought it was hard having 3 serving, but to have 3 leaving for bootcamp all within two months???? I'd probably be a basket case!!!!

I hope your daughter does get to go early because I know the waiting was hard on my girl.  Once they take that first swearing in they are ready to get going!!!  Say hello to the other moms on the Daughters group page.

mustangmom65 - Thank you!! I will definitely have to look you up if we are ever able to get your direction!! I love to go to museums and historical places, my sailor is not as much a fan of that, but he goes along to please mom. He would rather ride a roller coaster, or go to the beach and play in the sand or water!!

mustangmom65,

Hello!!!  I see you joined Moms of Daughters 2 recently and somehow I missed getting the notification!!  I'm sorry this is late but I do want to welcome you to our group!!!  We have been a little quiet of late but we are a close, friendly, supportive group of Moms and look forward to getting to know you and your sailor.  Please feel free to jump in and join our conversations on our group page.  You can ask any questions you may have, talk freely about your feelings, fears or concerns, or just chat about life.  We are all in different phases of our daughter’s Naval careers - from newbies to those whose daughters have been in for several years - from officer to enlisted!!! Has your daughter finished bootcamp yet??  We support all our sailor girls and each other as well. Not just during the Bootcamp days but the weeks and months following, as they go off to school, first duty station, or first deployment.  Let us support you when you're missing her, lend an ear when you need to vent, and celebrate with you when you want to brag!!

My husband and I are also Navy veterans and one daughter is a veteran. My other two are still active!!  Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!!

Thanks again for sharing in the BC Mom group. I wish you would be able to post that message on our ship's ombudsman page. I think this last year has been rough on a lot of our wives, but many of them could use your words of encouragement.

I just read through your profile, that sounds like a very enjoyable job to serve at the museum. Being in the Midwest, I am as far away from either coast and my son is currently on the opposite, so I don't think I will make it your direction any time soon, but I would come visit if I could. I also have five children.

mustangmom65 - Here is a link to the most active Mom of Daughters group on this site. Moms of Daughters 2 - Navy For Moms (ning.com)

Go ahead and request to join. Anna is the group moderator and there are several that have females in the group. I don't know about ones going specifically into BC this summer. We had another mom who sent 4 through BC last year during the height of COVID. Her first one was her daughter. She has had a lot going on so isn't posting much, but I can try to put you in contact with her if you don't get other feedback.

Good Morning mustangmom65 and welcome to our group. We are glad that you are here. Please thank your husband for his service and what an exciting job. That is so neat.

Ah we also had a mustang when I was growing up. It was my dad's and it was a rusty orange color if I remember correctly. Lol

Here is a link about boot camp today.
