New to this and wanting info

My son arrived at the Great Lakes boot camp on 1-25-16. We received his box but no letter with info regarding the address to send letters to him and the date of PIR.  Just wanting to know what to expect.  Thanks for anyone that answers.

He is off...

My son left Tuesday for Boot Camp.  I got to talk to him several times before he arrived at the training center, and then I got my last call at 11:30 that night.  I sure do miss him.  The countdown has begun in our household for his graduation.  I can't wait to see him again.  I am so stinkin' proud of that boy I could just burst.

Transfer within a ship

I was wondering if a sailor can transfer within a ship to a different area.  My son went to school for one thing and was placed in area of the ship he was never trained in.  He is getting picked on badly because he doesn't know what he is doing.  He is afraid to speak up due to retaliation.  He said he doesn't know how much more he can take and has talked about others committing suicide due to this issue.  Is there anyone that has knowledge of what he can do to get out of this situation?

PIR 01-22-16

My daughter graduates boot camp Friday. She is asking me to bring several items when I come up for PIR. The directions say she can't return to base with anything extra. However, her A school is on base. She will move buildings right after graduation, before she leaves on Liberty. Some insight on what she can take back on base after Liberty would be greatly appreciated! Of course, her phone tops the list of items to bring!

Navy help

My baby came home for Christmas and while driving back to base received a traffic ticket in Illinois. The cop told her she had to come to court Jan 25th. She informed him she was in the military and showed her ID and told him she would not be able to make court cause she will be deployed but was willing to pay the ticket.. The cop said he didn't care an they don't make exceptions for Military. Now, she apologized and wants to pay the ticket, however there has not been  a lot of help. She…

Happy 19th, to my boy!

Today is our SR's  19th birthday.

Im sure he would rather be having cake than having his butt kicked today, but it's almost over and he will have his cake after PIR...cake to celebrate this birthday, the new year, and graduation!

Missing him.

Ship date moved up

My son was supposed to leave on April 12 but has now been moved to leave February 12. I thought I had more time to prepare. I feel like I am not ready at all.

Airman Apprentice

Hello everyone I recently enlisted into the Navy and accepted the Navy Airman Apprentice job title. I am wondering if anyone here has a sailor that also enlisted as an airman apprentice and how their experience went. Did they like it? Any input is helpful thank you.

Finally - the phone call

My phone has been with me and the ringer on since I missed the week 3 phone call and it payed off tonight.  I got to talk to my daughter and she is doing well, as she has passed her swim test, the timed mile run and is the Recruit Mail Petty Officer.  Mom is happy and proud. Earlier this evening I also found her picture on the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Facebook page making it a wonderful day.…
