He is on his way

It has been a wild ride so far.  He wanted to join the Navy for years but my chunky monkey need to lose weight.  He finally made it! He signed  on for one job then was accepted into Nukes. It changed his date from January to October, then the call. He was looking at the end of March or mid April. We waited some more.  On Monday he got a call that said he would know tonight or tomorrow if he ships Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Wow when they move they really move. He is on his way to MEPS to…

I need help!

Hello all,

I'm looking into moving to Japan with my husband. He has already been over there for two years and I was not on his orders. What will the navy cover charge wise? Flight? Moving expenses? Housing? Food? Transportation?

We have already routed up a chit through his command for sponsorship.

Boot Camp P week

Call from our grandson, his graduation pushed back due to medical reason.   He has no clue why and said he will call in a week or 2 when he knows more.   Medical at MEPS was all ok.

Happened to anyone else?

Update on our sailor

He is finally off the Wasp, been off for a long time now, like since the boats last Middle East cruise. He is now back recruiting in Yorktown VA. He and his wife have become foster parents and hopefully be able to adopt the girl they currently have.

Missing my son

Hello everyone!

I'm so glad I found this. You all have given so much helpful information that I've been reading so far. My son arrived at BC on 3/6 and this week I've been really down and miss him something terrible along with so many others here at home. I can't wait to hear from him and be able to write.

MEPS - Career Classifier?

Our son is doing MEPS in two steps.  He took ASVAB at MEPS a couple weeks ago and is scheduled for physical, career classification 2nd week in April.

Because he wanted to know ahead of time, he had his color vision tested this week.  Result was mild red/green impairment.  Doctor said good chance he will pass MEPS color vision exam, but he might not.

Doing a lot of research on rates.  Approx. two thirds of rates are not available to future sailors with color vision…

Missing My Baby Boy

Good morning all moms!

I'm fairly new at this, as my son just went in on 3-6-2018.

I received the box on 3-9-2018, and of course the scripted phone call.  No form letter, or communication since that night, and I'm literally falling apart, and have no idea what I would do w/o all the love and encouragement you all share.

I hope to be better educated though reading all the post/blogs.

I pray for you and your children daily, and am sending warm hugs to all the…

Feeling like a bad mom

Good morning to all the wonderful moms out there. My son has been stationed away for more than 7 months. Because of where he is I get a phone call or a message when ever he can. It’s really hard when you are not hearing from your kid and knowing we talked everyday. His schedule changes all the time and the comfort was that in June he would be back here and stationed where I can travel often to see him. But now that’s not happening he said maybe the end of the year. He has changed a lot since…
