Oxygen, please!

My son leaves for bootcamp on Monday. We take him Sunday.  I've sent my son and my daughter off to college, but this is not the same feeling.  Not even close.  My breaths are getting shorter and I try hard not to cry in front of anyone.  I'm having nightmares.  I am trying to stay strong for my other three kids. They haven't seen me break yet!  My husband tries to give me comforting words but they don't always work. Thanks to all you other moms for the comfort you send out to us newbies.  I…

Power of Attny

Hi Ladies,

My son leaves for BC in 1 week, Do I need a POA while he's gone?

I know when he is stationed he can get his affairs in order, not sure about BC.

Is it needed or am I being an overthinking Navy MOM?  lol

Hospital for 3 nights now!

We received a call from Zack on Saturday 28th, he had been in the hospital for one night at that point with some type of bacteria build up in his throat so they told him he could call.  It was great to hear from him but killing me that I couldn't be there for him.  He has been in the hospital for 3 nights now, but they did remove the IV yesturday and he is going back to his div today.  He did say that they hadn't started the BC yet, but will start it on Tuesday!

Coming Home

Well here I sit on pins and needles as my son is on his way home. His dream of being a sailor and making a difference has been short lived. We have cried and prayed and wondered why.... no answers. Just administrative general seperation. After almost 2 years. He is devistated. He has been so proud of becoming a Navy Sailor and all he was going to do. Now he comes home and wonders was it worth it. He has only been home 3 weeks and 2 days since the day he left for RTC. He left Sept 18, 2012 (Only… Continue

From boy to man in 10 seconds flat!

My son has now been away for six days. Including his travel day.  He should be getting out of P-days either tomorrow or the next.  While he was in DEP for  many months,  I began to cherish my time with him more and more. It wasn't until the last month of him being home that I really started to feel it.  Finally, the last days before his departure were the hardest. I was also PMS'ing, so my emotions were tender to say the least.  Finally the day came to say goodbye.  I dreaded hearing his…

SHIP 9 DIV 254

Hello,

Looking for PIR date for this group, or hoping the letter will be in today's mail. My son arrived at BC a week ago. I did get the box... :)

Thank you

We Got the Box:)

The box and letter finally arrived on 6/26/2014. My stepson headed to BC on June 17, 2014. I'm happy that we finally have an address and a PIR date. He is in SHIP 02, DIV 940, which means that he must be part of the performance group...I think. PIR date is 8/15. My stepson is part of a blended family, so he has way more than 4 people who would love to watch him graduate. It's a complicated family. He has two moms, one stepmom, a girlfriend, a grandfather, and twin 13 year old sisters who…

Mixed Emotions

My son leaves for BC in just a matter of days...I'm not sure I can really actually describe what I'm feeling.  One moment I'm perfectly fine, the next I'm sobbing, the next I'm feeling worried about something stupid and then I'm perfectly fine again. I feel like some alien from some whacked out emotional planet came and occupied my body.  I am certainly not my normal happy-go-lucky, roll with whatever happens, kind of person right now.  It's so hard to have to hide my emotions at times.  I…

A Navy Wife's Post

I know what you're thinking... Another wife probably talking about her issues about the Navy or even talking about her day to day life!  Well I have news that is shocking, yes and no :)  I noticed something about us wives on here that when we come into this new adventure called Navy Life, we have no idea what we got ourselves into.  You see my husband and I were married a year and a half before he joined the service, dating three years so to be…

Tick Tock

Ok So My Son leaves Monday for BootCamp.  We had a Bon Voyage/Bday Party since he will be in BC on his Bday.  First one I am missing in 21 years... Just thought I would share! For the past week I have been having "moments" but I believe as expected.  However what I need to get under control is random people in stores, on the streets etc.  Thanking my son for his service, or thanking me.  Maybe I will get used to it, but boy its embarassing to cry every time someone says something nice...I am…

Feeling Sad but Glad

My daughter leaves for boot camp two weeks from today, July 7. I am already getting waves of sadness and missing her. I'm trying to enjoy every minute I have with her. I am worried yet happy for her.

After boot camp she goes to CTI school in Monterey, CA. I'm wondering how I can network with other CTI mothers. Also, if I could actually meet other Navy moms from the Amherst/Northampton area of Massachusetts that would be awesome. I think I'm going to need some…

Navy Life from Mom's point of veiw

I am trying to be connected I suppose because I miss my daughter. She went away for college, so I never thought there would be this mich missing her. But college was a phone call away or a 5 hour trip for one of us to take to get in some time together. And then there were winter spring and summer breaks. Now she is worldy and when I do get a call, the connection isn't all that great, and you try to jam in a couple words and talk over the sound of her voice! And there is always that… Continue

Boot Camp at Great Lakes 6/17

My son just left for boot camp Tues. 6/17.  We received his last phone call that evening.  We are waiting for information to start sending letters.  How long does this typically take? We are obviously anxious to start some good old letter writing communication!
