I need some guidance...

I'm writing this with a broken heart...My daughter was struggling with some separation anxiety in regards to leaving her family and her boyfriend. The Navy decided to cancel her contract saying that she is a risk. They don't want her to get to bootcamp and be sent home because of separation anxiety. I'm devastated and wish I could push her through this initial scary part of leaving her loved ones.

Disabling Injury and Relationships

Nobody ever wants to imagine it, but if you have found that your significant other has suffered from a disabling injury, your relationship will be changing in many ways. No matter what line of work you’re in this is always a potential risk, especially in the military. So despite that things could change you can still make it work, however you both will need…

Bootcamp misery!

Our son has been at bootcamp almost 3 weeks now and called yesterday and says it wants to come home. He said he was depressed, anxiety out the roof, and not sleeping. He said he was going to talk to someone on Monday and tell them he wants to go home. He said if he had to he would fake an injury. This is the same person who has wanted to join the navy since the sixth grade! I truly believe he needs to give it a couple of more weeks and see how he feels at that time. Everything I have read…

New to Divorce

The break-up of a marriage is one of the most difficult things to endure. It is the end of a union between two people who once came together in love to build a future around each other’s dreams, hopes, and expectations. There are many reasons for a divorce, including extramarital affairs, financial issues, domestic abuse, the loss of a child, and irreconcilable differences between two people who have simply grown apart. Divorce is never easy, and it’s important to…

1 year later

June of last year was when my then fiancé (now husband) left for bootcamp. We dated for years and have a son together, we just recently got married! Looking back, I never really expected to get used to this lifestyle so soon. i was lost while he was in bootcamp and no one really seemed to understand me. I was so grateful when I found this site and was able to communicate with everyone that was going through the exact same thing as me at the same time. We were all so excited when PIR finally… Continue

Feeling Really Worried

I just received a call from my SR son, he's been in boot camp a couple of weeks now.  The reason he was allowed to call was for his security clearance, and they needed him to call and ask for a couple of thing's.  In that phone call I asked if he was free to talk a little bit and he said "ya sure". I asked him how he was doing and he said was fine, but then he started to not sound "fine", he said " I'm doing this for you and dad". I noticed his voice sounded terrible, like he had a…
