Navy Lodge Room

If anyone is looking for a room for PIR August 3rd, Unfortunately, we had to cancel our reservation at Navy Lodge Great Lakes. You may want to call soon and see if you can get the room.  They had really good rates.

NAVY Mom Proud

Thank you for the comments, suggestions, input, and especially your experience. Everything is so new. New lingo, new places, new fears, new joys, and a new way of letting go. I never thought seeing handwriting and hearing a voice would mean so much to me.

It is my hope each of you have received a letter or a call, if not both. I learned how easy it is to send a Sandboxx letter tonight! It's Awesome! I even added a selfie in the Navy hat my son gave me for Mother's Day!

Hotel Questions

Hi Moms and Family,

First timer here!  I have found out that my son has a graduation date is the 10th of August.  Does anyone have any hotel ideas?  We have not received the info yet on the near by hotels/tickets and am worried the closest will sell out.  Since I'm driving from Az. Id like to get on this sooner then later.

Time slipping away

Time is slipping by so fast and in just a few short weeks my baby boy will leave for RTC and then out into the world of the Navy. We are beyond proud of him and all he has accomplished. My husband is 71 and I am 57, so this young man was a very special blessing from day one. Our oldest son will soon be 31 and has three daughters (he is an army vet). Our recruit turns 19 about 9 days before his ship date. He insists we don't make any kind of fuss over him, so we will do our best. He will be a…

June 18

I got home yesterday from watching my son graduate from Bootcamp. I was shocked to see a man standing in front of me.  He had a confidence that I have not see before (he had plenty of cocky before). The ceremony was beautiful. I am so proud that my son worked hard and stuck to it and is now going to A school. I can not correctly describe the feels and emotions. Anyone reading my blog, encourage your SR. Tell them it is worth it. Navy Moms has been a blessing in helping me get through this. …

The Call

I don't think I have stopped smiling since Saturday 5:24cst.  Our son was able to call us and we spoke for 32 minutes.  We were super stoked and I will say I definitely believe in Mother's Intuition because all day I kept telling my husband "he's going to call us today"!  We were getting ready to head to a graduation party and I sat on my bed and said, "come on phone freaking ring from IL".  About 20 minutes later BOOM it was him calling.  It was so refreshing to hear his voice.  For minute…

Son sent to Ship 5 for failed run

Good evening friends!

My son left for GL BC on May 31st and I thought all was well. Got the initial "Hey I made it okay will call you in 3 weeks". Then a couple of days later a package arrived with his personal belongings ie clothes, cell phone... Well, then yesterday (Sat 6/16) I got the dreaded phone call, mom, " I failed the run by 30 sec and they are sending me home". I felt such a deep sickness in my gut b/c he sounded so disappointed. If just didn't care so much then I am sure I…

Multiple questions, fears and worries

My fiancé left on 5/30 with a BC date of 6/1. I received his box over a week ago, but have yet to receive his form letter or a call. I’m worried that this means I won’t be getting anymore information. Does this mean things could just be going slower for the summer arrivals? Should I wait another week before I start to really worry? I know the saying is “no news is good news” but I’d prefer any news at this point. If anyone has a recruit that shipped at that time and you have news or any…

Decisions

Since receiving the form letter we've been researching for flights and the best prices.  Well, after reviewing all our options for flights we just decided to drive from TX to Chicago.  The flights for us are outrageous for my husband, myself and two teens.  I searched all airlines and options and there's no way we can afford to fly out all four of us roundtrip.  I already booked a room at the Navy Lodge, so we were lucky to get that reserved and in all we're excited that we will be there to…

Div 248 - I have a sailor! Everyone in that division passed!  I am too excited to type!!

I am better now. My Sailor will be a MMN and going to Goose Creek. I thought it was for about 1 1/2 years but found out today it is more like 2 years. So I have 2 years before I worry about not hearing anything for months to years. I can't wait for him to get to use his phone. Texting and emailing will be a blessing. I know the hard stuff isn't over but boot camp was…

Battlestation here my SR comes! 5 days before graduation and I am positive my son has passed the final Fitness. Starting tomorrow, I will be on pins and needles waiting for my call. He is in a lower number so I won't have to wait long, hopefully. I feel bad for those whose SR are in a higher number. My graduation ribbons arrive on Monday. I hope I can get one to my sister in time for her to wear during graduation. I am trying not to squeal but it is hard. Hooyah - Go J Go!
