Stressed out Boot camp mom

My son left on July 11th. He is ship 12 div 286. I received my form letter and his package. in the form letter, it said that if there was delay due to injury or sickness that we would receive a call letting us know what was going on. However, I received my first hand written letter and it was short and said that he had news that there was a small possibility that he could be sent home due to chest pains. He said he would write more later. He said we should know by today (7/31) if he would be…

Week #2 of the Journey

Find myself puttering around the house staying busy, but all the while my thoughts are of my son and how he is doing, and what my new role is.  I have made more cards, made book marks, and have volunteered to writing letters and cards to men and women in BC, currently serving, and in the hospital.  I stumbled on a recent video of my son that is on my cell phone, I have been so full of emotions and thoughts that I forgot it was on there, lol!!  I played it over and…

My daughter is in the Navy.....

My daughter left July 25th for Great Lakes, Ill.  She was excited and nervous all at the same time.  I got the 10 second phone call from her stating she made it and that I will get a package within 3 weeks.  I wanted more time with her to see how things are going, is she doing ok. I told her I loved her and that we were proud of her.  She has been out of high school for almost one and half years, so she is exactly a baby, she is 19, but…

8 days...

This weekend has been filled with hugs and stares of my young man that will be leaving in 8 days.  I have so much to do and yet I just want to watch his every move....as if he is that 1 year old taking his first steps.  In a way, he is....he is trying so hard to be the man he should be and taking those first steps into adulthood.…

Just need to vent...

My youngest left for boot camp on July 2nd. I am very proud of him and supported his decision to join the Navy.  Even signed the papers as soon as he turned 17 so that he would get in DEP and start learning as much as soon as possible.  He has a girlfriend who I really like and she is so supportive of his decision to be a sailor and unlike so many young kids in love they understand that they can have goals and lives outside of each other.  They are both very mature.  When my son arrived to…

They don't understand

Sometimes it's hard to talk to my friends about my SR. They just don't understand. They don't know that the slitest thing can make me think of him. A movie, song, anything. And they don't seems to care. I get the usual comment of awh but not the feeling that I really need, understanding. I guess everyone on this site can clingy help me with that. See like right now all my friends want to watch dear John. And I know it's about army and all that but still! It hits home and I don't think they… Continue

My Daughter is at Basic Training

My daughter left to start her basic training.  She left for Great Lakes center on Wednesday, July 25, 2012.  She was very excited and nervous.  I am just plain nervous about it. I miss her terribly already.  Not sure if I will have a melt down, because I did not have it the day she left. I did cry, but only if someone else cried and then I was alright.  It is weird not having her home.  Even our dog (Bentley) misses her.  He is just moping around and yesterday when I was cleaning her room,…

A New Beginning

How is it, that a BOX and a LETTER can bring on so many mixed emotions at once, lol!!  From getting the box to getting the letter today, my emotions ran crazy.......excitement, adrenlen rush, relieved, sad, happy, teary, and many more to say the least.  This child that I carried for 9 months and raised for 18, is now an adult and making huge decisions......and he has left, in search of the many things that will begin to mold him for his future.   He is my last to leave the nest, and I find…

Confused and need info

My son left college and joined the Navy.  He is at boot camp right now and we just got his first student loan bill today.  He said his student loan would get paid.  Does anyone know how that works?  Do we have to pay it and he will get reimbursed?  Does anyone know who I would contact to find out?

Countdown: 44 Days till Boot Camp

So, I suppose its time to begin facing the fact that soon my baby will be leaving for the U.S. Navy.  Up till now, I've basically tried to keep my mind busy learning new things about boot camp, A-School, and Nuke School. If I keep busy, I don't have to face that he…
