He called me this last friday! I was.so.excited. I think i may have blown his ear drum completely off by screaming ahaha i saw the "847" area code and just freaked out. Not a good day!

I know PIR is coming up in just over two weeks. I should be way past these depressed feelings.  But the last two days I just cant get out of this mood I am in.  I find myself worrying to much!  Worrying about hell week which for my SR was last week. So thats one less thing to worry about. Worrying about the confidence chamber (the only confidence it gives me is  that I am confident that there will be alot snotty noses and throwing up). Their last PFA and Battlestations.  I am a worrier but I… Continue

A Sailor's Homecoming

Dearest Navy Moms,

I am grateful for all of the support that everyone has shown during my time of loss and grief. I have been catching up at work so I have not been here to keep up.

I am so glad that your sailors from the USS Boxer are returning home. As you speak with them please let them know that I am proud of them and that I pray that they will obey the safety rules of the ship and move in pairs while they are deployed.

I am honored to know each of you and…

ANY IDEAS?

Our Son is graduating Sept. 9.  He will be leaving for Pensacola the day following graduation later in the day.  Since we have found out we get an extra day with him, I have booked another night @ our hotel.  The day of graduation he plans to show us around base, I was wondering what all there is to do as far as attractions, sites to see, or anything interesting for us to do for the day after graduation.  Anyone have any ideas for us?…

What is the Navy's policy on getting married?

What is the Navy's policy on getting married? My son recently met an 18 year old girl in A school, spent three weeks together. He's just turned 21 years old, been at his first duty station for two weeks and found out his new girlfriend is going to Japan. They want to get married NOW before she leaves! Why I ask? You two barely know each other, OH, did I mention they got engaged before he left Great Lakes, with expensive engagement ring. Yes, I realize "crazy kids" fell in love, love is blind,… Continue

Kids in Bootcamp

My son has been in the Navy three years now.  He is my oldest son and joined the Navy in 2008.  He left for boot camp right after he graduated from high school.  I had a very difficult time when he left- I cried a lot.    In boot camp you do not hear much from them- your only option is to write letters. They say they can call once in a while, but really they don't.  It is a big shock for them too.  It is going to be very different than they expected.  The best thing you can do is just…

August 24th, 2011

This week has actually been really depressing for me. I don't think Robert understands the amount of stress I am dealing with. I know he is in A-school now and busy, but I just wish he would consider asking me how I am doing. All we talk about is him. He didn't even tell me that his orders changed when he found out. He was only going to be in Pensacola for 45 days but apparently the other day he found out he is going to be there for 6-8 months. All I am doing here at home is planning my future… Continue

Anyone know about Bayou Grande Apartments in Pensacola FL

Hi,

I am currently trying to get things around to move to Pensacola FL to be with my boyfriend and i am not having the best of luck. Every apartment complex that seems to be in my price range is either in the "ghetto" or has so many problems that its not even worth it. I have been searching online, as i wont be able to get there to look in person, and i found a quite little apartment complex near both of the bases. It is called Bayou Grande. I was wondering if anyone knew if they were…

Adjusting

I am starting to feel more adjusted to our son being gone.  We are so very proud and happy for him.  He is doing what he has dreamed of doing for many, many years.  Even though we have been preparing for him to leave, it is still an adjustment to get use to in our home.

We are looking forward to seeing him in at graduation, with time to hear how boot camp was and how he himself adjusted to his new life.  Was he as prepared as he thought from the D.E.P. program?  What advise…

Told he has asthma

My son is due to graduate Aug 26th and was told on the 19th that he may be discharged because he has asthma.  He has never had any medical issues before and now all of the sudden this has come up. He had a moment in week 4 that he had to go to the hospital for a low heart rate but was released in a couple hours and returned to normal PT.  He has already gone through the Ball Cap Ceremony.  I am so confused on what is going on and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what we… Continue

Broke his hand

Well my son was suppose to graduate on Sept. 9th div 295. But he broke his hand and is now delayed.  He is now in a div 2341 and we are waiting to see where he will go from here. He is hoping to get his cast off and get right back into things i'm worried that only two weeks in a cast wont be enough for him to heal and make the rest of his training difficult. Does anyone know what he is doing while he is in this medical unit?

And yet, this feeling too shall pass...

My son shipped on 03 August after being picked up by his DEP Petty Officer to stay overnight in a hotel before swearing in the following morning.  I posted this story about my son, his fiancee, his brother and I on my personal blog the following day:

And yet, this feeling too shall pass...

Of all the things I’ve done in my life, being a mother is the most difficult and the most rewarding.

I’ve been a nurse, a maid, a mechanic, a designer, a travel agent, a…
