Emotional Days

My daughter left for RTC this past Wednesday (8/26/2015) and I never realized it was possible to miss someone so very much in my life. I feel like a piece of my heart is missing and when I got the "I'm Here" call and she was crying, my heart broke into a million pieces. I am sure she wasn't the only SR in tears by the time they got to make that short phone call and I know I am not the only mom feeling the way I am feeling right now. I am trying to stay upbeat and positive about this whole…

Sending Packages

I know we can't send packages to the SR's, but when Marshall's box came home we found his retainers. I know they can keep them, just didn't know who he needs to let know that we are mailing them. Also since they are pulling his wisdom teeth I feel that he will need them even more to keep his teeth from shifting. I paid too much money for that simle, I can't do that again..

Information on graduation

Hello everyone. Hope everyone is well. I had a question. My husband is graduating from boot camp soon. My question is, is there a place for family member to watch the graduation that are not on the list to go in? We have extra family going to Chicago who want to watch the graduation.

4 weeks in

Today is the end of the 4 week mark in boot camp for my son. So far all seems well. I haven't received news otherwise. We have always lived here near Great Lakes, and he mentioned that it's weird being so close to home, yet so far away. I wish he wasn't such a man of few words! I obviously am counting down the days until I see him, as are all of the other parents out there. Are there any other families out there that live near Great Lakes as well? God bless to all of you who joined this…

Great Lakes Ship 03 Div 334 PIR 10/02/2015 Anyone??

I am one happy mom, we received his box today and his form letter yesterday.  First letter is in the mail.  I kept it to only 2 pages..lol  I can't wait to hear from him.  Getting the box was emotional as your child's clothes he had on come home but he didn't, such a weird feeling.  We could not be more proud of son. I did hear something from some Facebook friends today in regards to the letters to our SR's and if anyone can chime in that would be great.  I was advised by a couple of prior…

Questions about chief pinning

My son is being pinned as chief and is stationed 14 hours away. I am very proud of him and I understand this is a milestone in his career. However it is on a Wednesday afternoon and it would be very difficult for me to be there. How necessary is it for me to be at this event? If it is necessary what should I wear? Thank you

Missing my son

Missing my son.  He left 3 weeks ago.  We did get a short letter. Does anyone know about the phone calls? When do they come? Do they let us know so we can be waiting by the phone?

My son is leaving

I'm sitting with my son in MEPS. He leaves in a few hours for boot camp in Great Lakes. This is so hard already I can't imagine the next few months without hearing from him or knowing if he's ok. I have such mixed emotions. I'm so proud and excited for his new chapter but yet so sad that I won't have him by my side. His room will be empty, there will be no texts or calls. How do other moms make it through?

FIT vs SEPS

My SR called today very upset and crying. She was doing so well in boot camp, then she fractured her ankle got send to RCU, passed her medical PFA, reinjured herself as a result of ankle injury (now, it's her knee) got put on light duty and is so worried she won't graduate and be sent.to SEPS. She has been in BC since April, 7, 2015.She says she has 180 days to complete but she has used up much of her time. I'm confused, I don't know what's going on. People try to help but I get conflicting…

Full of pride but still sad....

My son Tyler left this past Tuesday (8/11/15) for boot camp, and I am trying to adjust.  Being in the United States Navy is something he has wanted since he was 7 years old and I have always supported his goal and to see it start to unfold for him is amazing.  I am nervous for him, sad he is gone and excited at the same time.  The mix of emotions has me all over the place.. lol  As I am sure others feel the same way.  We are new at the military life and I am starting to realize I have a lot…

Still waiting for a letter from him.

Really rough day today. Opened mailbox and letter from SR. Had mini meltdown. Thought these tears would be less 2 weeks later. Maybe tomorrow one can only hope.
