No Graduation for us.

A few days after my daughter arrived at Boot Camp - we received the PIR date. That DATE was the day that life would be good again.  I would be able to cheer, hug,  kiss, and squeeze my daughter.  All of her work was going to come to an end on that DATE. My phone even had a countdown for that DATE.  Well... that date is in 3 days and my daughter will not be there.  She injured her heel and was sent to RCU.  When she heals, she will complete her final run, do Battlestations, and go right…

In a great mood!!!

I unexpectedly got my first phone call from my SR yesterday!!! I was so happy when I saw "Great Lakes" on the caller ID that I started literally jumping up and down and shrieking to my roommate that it was Eric! It was so incredible to listen to Eric's voice (even though he has a cold and it didn't really sound like him), and I was so happy to finally be talking to my baby. I thought that he would have at least a half hour to talk, but he only got 13:31...we talked about everything that…

First Letter From My Recruit

My daughter left for RTC "Bootcamp" on November 15th.  Saturday November 26th we got the three page form letter giving us her mailing address, graduation information, and a note from her on the back.  I was pleasantly surprised to get this so soon after she left.

Aprehension

My boy left on November 15th.

His PIR date is January 20th..

I've been pretty okay.

Dealing with the fact that he isn't here.

That's not what gets me.. (Not yet, anyway.)

...what I'm scared of?

..change.

My boy is the most emotional, sensitive, loving (, amazing) that I have ever met, with the most goofy, idiotic personality. We've been dating for almost 3 years.

I'm just so fearful...

..I don't want BC to harden him, to make him into an…

how did I miss his call?

Today has been the worst day so far. My son left a message on our answering machine asking someone to please pick up. My heart is broken. We were at his younger sisters basketball game. I hated basketball before today but this just makes it worse. I miss my child so much and I wasn't home when he called. Please tell me that this will get easier!

Thanksgiving while on delayed enlistment

My son isn't due to leave until June. We are treasuring all our holidays, birthdays, and crazy moments. This Thanksgiving the extended family met at a restaurant. A lady came up to my son and told him she had noticed him because he looked like her son. Her son is a marine and is currently deployed. She gave him a hug as she left. After that I got a bit teary watching him with the cousins. Then my sister said that him leaving is just like sending a kid to college. I have sent a kid to college…

I am desperately looking for challenge coins for the USS San Juan SSN 751, and for NNPTU Charleston. Can anyone help? I have scoured the internet for days and am coming up empty handed. The San Juan is docked in New Hampshire at the time being, but was originally from Groton CT.

The Count Down Begins...

I am not sure if I am going to make it or not...   My son leaves for boot camp in two weeks (Dec.6th) I can stand the thought of not having him home over the holiday's. Also, I am scheduled to work on his ship out date, anyone have any advise on this. I am thinking I should spend the day before with him (Dec. 5th) say my good bye's then. Then give him a kiss in the morning and go off to work and try to make my day as normal as possible. I have heard several stories that the recruiters comes…

Holidays

Driving into Nashville today to pick my youngest sailor up at the airport.  He'll have approx 2 weeks with us before going on deployment.  Im very sad that he wont be with us at Christmas.  My other sailor won't be able to come home until Dec 28th.  Wish I could have them both here at the same time.  Im afraid that won't happen for a long time.  But that's Navy life.  I'm very thankful to at least have them home even if it's at different times.

And he's off....

I can hardly believe it, but he sent me pics already showing it's real...

We had a wonderful party Saturday for him... friends and family were so supportive in every way! Everyone brought one of his favorite foods to enjoy! It was also a celebration of his 18 birthday, a little early!

Well, I got the "first call home"!

I have been carrying my phone on me for 3 weeks now waiting for the call!  I got it yesterday only to say my son has been in medical separation for the last week or so.  He passed his hearing test at MEPS but now that he is in Great Lakes he did not? We live in far South Texas and the climate and altitude are a lot different...Don't know if that has anything to do with it or not but am wondering at what lengths do they go to try to work this out with him so that he can continue on?  Anyone…
