Thanksgiving Day 2014

Great Thanksgiving Day!

We had five sailors at the table, and what a awesome bunch of guys! Cristian (USS Kearsarge), Mark, Jonathan (USS Eisenhower), Austin (USS Eisenhower), Jedd (USS Truman).

Austin made "Angeled" Eggs for us (Yum!). Jonathan and Cristian made guacamole and salsa for appetizers. Yup! Yvonne made everything else...except the gravy. That's always my job!

Before we ate we started watching the Detroit-Chicago game. Than Yvonne called us to the table and…

My son Garrett is on the USS Simpson.  I was wondering if there are any other moms with kids on this ship.  They just went on deployment 2 weeks ago.

The day has arrived for my son to leave. It came much to fast for me but he is very excited and I'm happy for that but I'm very sad. He doesn't want me to go to the airport tomorrow I want to but understand why he wants to say bye tonight. Did anyone go to airport or did most say bye at the hotel? Also does anyone have any idea what the approximate graduation date might be? If your son/daughter leaves tomorrow would you mind getting back to me maybe we could keep in touch. Thank you!! Now What

My husband left for basic and he made it there safe, he said he'll call me in 3 weeks. I remember his recruiter telling me about adding myself to his insurance, but I don't remember how long I was supposed to wait. Can someone tell me that and anything else I'm supposed to know or be doing?

My daughter left on November 5th

My daughter left on November 5th for boot camp.  She was so excited to go because she had never been on a plane.  We text back and forth up until she reported to boot camp. It made me feel better to hear the excitement and confidence  in her voice, I know she made the right choice!  I am still waiting on her package they send home and the information on graduation ceremonies. I worry about her as all moms do and it's the not knowing that driving me crazy.
